About
Dr. Wilbur Gonsalves holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and a Ph.D. from the Department of Applied Psychology and Counselling Centre at the University of Mumbai. His doctoral research focused on psycho-social competency factors influencing the vocational rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.
During his Ph.D., he was awarded the prestigious Vice Chancellor’s Research Fellowship for two years, followed by the University Grants Commission’s Junior Research Fellowship (NET-JRF) for the subsequent two years. He served as a Teaching Assistant in Counselling Psychology at the University of Mumbai for four years, contributing significantly to academic instruction and student mentorship.
Dr. Gonsalves briefly held a full-time position as Assistant Professor of Psychology at Parvathibai Chowgule College, Goa, where he taught undergraduate courses. In October 2013, he joined the Department of Applied Psychology at the University of Mumbai as a full-time Assistant Professor.
As part of his professional outreach, Dr. Gonsalves has been an invited resource person for numerous workshops and guest lectures. His areas of expertise include research methodology, psychological testing, counselling, communication skills, self-awareness, stress management, and disability-related issues.
He currently serves on the Board of Studies in Psychology at Parvathibai Chowgule College, Goa. Dr. Gonsalves is also a life member of several esteemed academic bodies, including the Bombay Psychological Association (BPA), Marathi Manasshashtra Parishad (MMP), and the Indian Science Congress (ISC).
