1. When do admissions begin?

Admissions usually begin in June or July, soon after the TYBA results of the University of Mumbai are announced.

2. What is the procedure for admission?

Online Registration: Begin by applying through the E-Samarth portal, the official platform for admissions. 

Merit Lists: The institution releases three merit lists in phases. Candidates are selected based on eligibility and merit. 

Spot Admission: After the three lists, if seats remain vacant, a spot admission round is conducted to fill the remaining slots.

3. What are the eligibility criteria for admission?

Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with either 3 or 6 papers in TYBA.

4. Is there an entrance test for admission to the MA Psychology programme?

No entrance test is required. Admission is based on TYBA marks.

5. What specialisations are offered in the MA Psychology programme?

The programme offers four specialisations: Clinical, Counselling, Industrial/Organisational, and Social Psychology.

6. How many seats are available for the MA Psychology programme?

There are 100 seats in total, with 25 seats allocated to each specialisation.

7. Does the Department of Applied Psychology offer a Bachelor’s degree?

No, the department offers only Master's and PhD programmes.

8. Are bridge courses available for students from other academic streams?

No, bridge courses are not available.

9. When and how are specialisations allotted?

Specialisations are allotted based on TYBA merit, student preference, and seat availability.

10. What is the syllabus or course structure?

The course is divided into four semesters, combining core papers with electives from the chosen specialisation.

11. What is the evaluation pattern?

Evaluation includes internal assessments (50 marks) such as vivas, tests, and essays, and external exams (50 marks).

12. What are the attendance requirements?

Students must maintain a minimum attendance of 75%.

13. Is there a compulsory internship as part of the programme?

Yes, On-the-Job Training (OJT) is mandatory in Semester 2, and fieldwork is included in Semester 3 for all specialisations.

14. Where is the Department of Applied Psychology located?

The department is located in Kolivery Village, Kalina, Santacruz, Mumbai – 400098.

15. What is the name of the building in which the department is housed?

The department is housed in C.D. Deshmukh Bhavan.

16. Does the campus have a library?

Yes, the campus has a library called the Knowledge Resource Centre.

17. Does the campus have a canteen?

Yes, there are several canteens including Garware Canteen, Nanotechnology Canteen, Main Canteen, and Boys Hostel Canteen.

18. Does the department have a psychology laboratory?

Yes, the department has a psychology lab where students conduct experiments using software like Opensesame and R.

19. Does the department assist students with fieldwork opportunities?

Yes, the department arranges fieldwork specific to each specialisation, and it is a compulsory part of the curriculum.

20. Can students participate in conferences and academic competitions?

Yes, students are encouraged and mentored to participate in events like Aavishkar, National Academy of Psychology (NAOP), Bombay Psychological Association (BPA), and other research competitions and conferences.

21. What are the best travel options to reach the campus?

The nearest railway stations are Kurla (West) and Santacruz (East). Buses and shared     

autos are available from these stations to the University.
